http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=973991 Bug ID: 973991 Summary: KVM Qemu guests segfault using the copy cpu settings from host feature: Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Virtualization:Other Assignee: virt-bugs@suse.de Reporter: matthias.klostermair@freenet.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 671574 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=671574&action=edit Screenshot of failing Fedora23 Guest. Hello. My knowledge about kvm / qemu is rather minimal. Please let me know what further informations you need. I have this repository added to my Tumbleweed installation: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization/openSUSE_Factory/ i | qemu-kvm | package | 2.5.0-322.7 | x86_64 |Virtualisation When using the function to copy cpu settings from host in virt managers guest settings, certain virtual guests fail with such trace. Please look at the attached screenshot. Setting the CPU manually makes this work again. E.g. (Westmere). My haswell get's normally detected as westmere since a ucode upadte seemingly. Since i think that updates might arrive in TW, the one or other day i hope this report is usefull. Many Thanks! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

modprobe.blacklist=raid6_pq
should be able to fix this if that driver is not needed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

@Justin: Can you please retest with the kernel parameter from comment 16 entered at "Boot Options" at the "Installation" entry of the boot menu of the installation media?
Thanks in advance!
modprobe.blacklist=raid6_pq at boot did not fix the problem. Looks like the module is being pulled in as a dependency from another module (modules.dep confirms this). I added "install raid6_pq /bin/false" to /etc/modules.d/50-blacklist.conf and it seemed to do the trick; no fault. I've also included the runtime options that libvirt uses when it launches the vm. AVX and AVX2 are supported by the host cpu. 3178 ?
