(Which is a bit pointless because they have the version and release numbers coded in and constantly invalidate themselves. (Fedora uses a patched repoview which gets rid of the release.)) Couldn't the index.html simply be inside the repoview directory? There it wouldn't harm. Originally, as reported by Benji, it was about not being able to access individual files in the repodata directory. Of course it is possible to download them because the names are pretty much well known, however there is no means to check timestamps as you normally could if the directory index was there. Also, it is not possible to get a file listing (and see new files that show up like solv files). You said you are not willing to change this because createrepo doesn't support placement of files anywhere else, but createrepo has the following options here: -u, --baseurl <url> = optional base url location for all files -o, --outputdir <dir> = optional directory to output to I would think it is trivial to put the files somewhere else.
