[Bug 612922] New: Local connections to system fail
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612922 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612922#c0 Summary: Local connections to system fail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: dutchkind@txoriaskea.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; nl; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100527 SUSE/3.6.4-6.1 Firefox/3.6.4 This is a rather complicated bug report so I do my best. Ever since I installed opensuse 11.2, I had this problem and only after months did I find a solution. There are 2 ways to detect the problem: 1. I use a script that installs a local rpm using zypper to solve the dependencies. It does it by opening a konsole. But often the konsole just wouldn't open, mostly after I had done some of the same operations it would just stop opening the requested konsole. 2. When trying to open or save files or any other file browsing from within openoffice.org (at the moment ooo-build 3.2.1.3), I get a dialog saying "The protocol stopped unexpectedly" roughly translated from Dutch). I will then have empty folders not showing any content. To solve this I run this as the local user in a konsole: xhost +local: After this I can run the script that opens konsole winndows without a problem and in openoffice.org I can browse again. In openoffice.org the problem is sometimes more persistent and I have to run the same command a few times to be able to get down to the file I need. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I now use opensuse 11.3 and there it has never been a problem, didn't see it either in 11.4, but in 12.1 it could be that it returned, I haven't tested it with the xhost command, will do that soon. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
