http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=622905 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=622905#c0 Summary: Net-ISO-Image doesn't boot from USB-Sticks. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: psikodad@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Ant.com Toolbar 2.0.1 Firefox/3.6.6 I have downloaded the Net-ISO-Image openSUSE-11.3-NET-i586.iso and "burned" it via "dd if=/blablabla of=/dev/sde bs=4M;sync" on my USB-Stick. However, my laptop (CD-ROM-less) complaints about: "Operating System not found". In opposite, when I use the same ISO to boot inside VirtualBox, it works. And second, the KDE live Image is bootable from USB-Sticks. Therefore I assume there is something wrong with the Net-Image. PS: md5sum is correct. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Net-ISO-Image should be bootable from USB-Sticks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

My fault. But I don't understand why it's not default for net and DVD image, too? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It seems as though the documentation is there and it's a question of why it's not enabled by default. At any rate, it's not a kernel issue as we're not even getting into the bootloader. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
