While a zypper dup does offer to update packages like kernel-firmware and preload including the needed vendor change, it does not do so for kernel-default. Attached you find the solver test-cases for zypper in kernel-default and zypper dup. If I do zypper install I get: Problem: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.37.1_1.2-1.6.1.i586 benötigt ksym(default:drm_core_reclaim_buffers) = 3b87293f, was aber nicht angeboten werden kann Lösung 1: Folgende Aktionen werden ausgeführt: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.38.0_18-1.2.i586 installieren (mit Anbieterwechsel) openSUSE --> obs://build.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Tumbleweed preload-kmp-default-1.2_k2.6.38.0_18-67.3.i586 installieren (mit Anbieterwechsel) openSUSE --> obs://build.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Tumbleweed Lösung 2: kernel-default-2.6.38-18.1.i586 nicht installieren Lösung 3: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default auflösen durch das Ignorieren einiger Abhängigkeiten which translates to: solution 1: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.38.0_18-1.2.i586 and preload-kmp-default-1.2_k2.6.38.0_18-67.3.i586 with vendor change. If I choose solution 1 it installs kernel-default-base as a new package and updates the rest of the kernel packages.
