[Bug 684431] New: dup does not always offer to update to new package if a vendor-change is needed
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=684431 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=684431#c0 Summary: dup does not always offer to update to new package if a vendor-change is needed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.burmeister@gmx.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=422708) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=422708) dup not suggesting vendor change for kernel-default User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 I have installed kernel-default-2.6.37.1-1.2.2.i586 and enabled the tumbleweed repo. While a zypper dup does offer to update packages like kernel-firmware and preload including the needed vendor change, it does not do so for kernel-default. Attached you find the solver test-cases for zypper in kernel-default and zypper dup. If I do zypper install I get: Problem: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.37.1_1.2-1.6.1.i586 benötigt ksym(default:drm_core_reclaim_buffers) = 3b87293f, was aber nicht angeboten werden kann Lösung 1: Folgende Aktionen werden ausgeführt: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.38.0_18-1.2.i586 installieren (mit Anbieterwechsel) openSUSE --> obs://build.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Tumbleweed preload-kmp-default-1.2_k2.6.38.0_18-67.3.i586 installieren (mit Anbieterwechsel) openSUSE --> obs://build.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Tumbleweed Lösung 2: kernel-default-2.6.38-18.1.i586 nicht installieren Lösung 3: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default auflösen durch das Ignorieren einiger Abhängigkeiten which translates to: solution 1: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.0.4_k2.6.38.0_18-1.2.i586 and preload-kmp-default-1.2_k2.6.38.0_18-67.3.i586 with vendor change. If I choose solution 1 it installs kernel-default-base as a new package and updates the rest of the kernel packages. (And if you delete it from /var/lib/zypp/SoftLocks, it'll probably still not do the update because it doesn't like to install a package with a new name just to satisfy a dependency. Which is probably a good thing. Installing both kernel-default-base-2.6.37 and kernel-default-2.6.38 will not make vmware work. The solver creates special rules for this, called "choice rules". They are marked as weak, that's why you get the update if you force it by specifying the version.) (It's vmware-guest-kmp-default that needs a 2.6.37 kernel.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
