[Bug 208005] New: Installation - Printer - CUPS Server dialog
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208005 Summary: Installation - Printer - CUPS Server dialog Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: mzugec@novell.com ReportedBy: locilka@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com According to http://users.suse.cz/~locilka/Installation/screenshots/2ndstage_overview/ Please, fix the dialog "CUPS Server" 1.) Too wide Server Name. 33% - 40% should be enough. Impossible to set up hostname with Unicode (Punycode feature). 2.) Lookup doesn't work if firewall is enabled. YaST still tries to look it up but it obviously fails. No message is reported that it is because of running firewall. (AMD64, HP Pavilion dv5000, X86_64) the dialog asks me to install "CUPS-drivers-STP". From a search on the net I got to understand that GIMP-Print is replacing "stp". See also http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/suselinux/cups-drivers-stp.html I installed GIMP, and still YAST - CUPS is requiereing STP files. Is it possible that yast development overlooked this change in 10.1. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208005 ------- Comment #3 from locilka@novell.com 2006-10-05 11:50 MST ------- 2 - Never change a firewall configuration on your own. You can: a.) Try to lookup and if it returns nothing and there is some firewall running, report error, that it might be bacause of running error. b.) When user selects to lookup, open-up a pop-up and ask them whether they want to lookup the server despite the fact that a firewall is running and might block the broadcast traffic. c.) Disable the lookup button in case of running firewall and then write this eventuality to help. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
