[Bug 467210] New: expert partitioner -- manual partitioning: actual partitions and suggestions are merged together
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467210 Summary: expert partitioner -- manual partitioning: actual partitions and suggestions are merged together Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- expert partitioner -- manual partitioning: actual partitions and suggestions are merged together In open suse 10.3 going to EP for manual partitioning resulted in initial showing the actual partitions. Which made sense, because user was watching at the disk partitions. In OS11.1 in the same stage user sees both (_at the same time_) suggestions and the actual disk without clear indication which partition is which. It is really to easy to delete real partition instead of suggested partition. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But anyway the request isn't new. People have suggested to show partitions that get formated in different colors. The problem is that partitions that get deleted aren't shown at all in the tables so this doesn't help. Showing also deleted partitions was considered confusing. After all we have the summary for that. What I can do easily is to add a "Installation Summary" item in the navigation tree that shows the text also shown in the proposal summary. So it's easy for the user to see what changes have been done without the need to leave the expert partitioner. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Summary (the same for both OS10.3 and 11.1). * delete A, delete B, create C, create D I click "manual editing paritions" which launches EP, and now there is difference In OS 10.3 I see: * partition A * partition B actual partitions In OS 11.1 I see * partition A * partition B * partition C * partition D as they all exist on the disk, and this is not true. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
