Retested with openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 8, and the same problem occurs again. Attached YaST logs as requested after installation. I have tested the issue and it works. What could have happened is that the LVM proposal shrinks the Windows partition. In that case only the shrinking but not the setting of a mount point is listed in the storage summary. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I can tell you that this system has a "Dell Utility" partition as sda1, a recovery partition as sda2, and the main Windows partition in sda3. Both sda2 and sda3 are NTFS. Also, I noticed that the installer said that partition 2, the recovery partition, had an error and "could not be resized". This may be what is causing the installer to offer deletion of partitions 2 and 3, instead of accomodating them. This is a malfunction though, because they have already been resized and there is roughly 180 MB of Linux space where it can be installed. The existing Linux partitions contained an EXT4 boot partition and an encrypted LVM partition, containing two logical drives, root and swap. In case the logs didn't include it, I've pasted a copy of fdisk -l /dev/sda below: Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0xc0000000 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 13 104391 de Dell Utility /dev/sda2 14 275 2097152 7 HPFS/NTFS Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda3 275 15869 125258805 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda4 * 15869 38913 185108267+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/sda5 15869 15888 151922+ 83 Linux /dev/sda6 15888 38913 184956313+ 8e Linux LVM -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I hate to think that's the openSUSE mentality when it comes to newer users installing the product. I happen to know that errors in the recovery partition are fairly common, and some systems ship with them that way, at least according to Linux. I certainly haven't changed anything on my recovery partition since the system was shipped, and this is a pretty new laptop (3-4 months old with Windows rarely used.) Shouldn't it default to NOT deleting the Windows partitions if there is enough room to install without doing so? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
