Installation of the NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 (version: 285.05.09) is now complete. as possible resolution i found the follow work-around: - accept the nouve installation first - download the latest nvidia installer package - add nomodeset to the menu.lst in /boot/grub - start the sytstem with text-console and swith to runlevel 3 - install the nvidia installer package as descrived in the packagde - restart xserver and the system - run the nvida x-server-config and update ur x-server configuration with this - remove nomodeset to the menu.lst in /boot/grub -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

SUSE is not responsible for NVIDIA's driver installer.
true, but it would help, if SUSE could get the final version of suse 12.1 to be working well with nvidia cards and would not fail to set up the x-server while the install (at autoconfig) with this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And nvidia manual install has always succeed. There's some important steps to take care of, and they are described in the wiki. Mostly : boot with nomodeset blacklist=nouveau en console mode remove yes in KMS_IN_KERNEL in /etc/sysconfig build the driver with the nvidia installer, accept or not at the end the creation of an xorg.conf file. I don't and use drivers nvidia in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-devices Reboot And then each time kernel or xorg part are updated, redo the nvidia installer. With that method I never get a trouble with the nvidia blob. For 12.1 the most difficult part is getting a working install and post install steps with nouveau drivers, which can be tricky on several type of devices. but the situation is improving compared to previous version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
