I had been using OpenSuse 11.4, with desktop effects including blur, without
problem. My KDE is the one provided by OpenSuse's "KDE upstream" repo. My
graphic card is:

Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics
Controller (rev 03).

I used to upgrade on a regular basis but (because of limited access to the
Internet), my last upgrade had been in late May. I have upgraded now and,
immediately after starting KDE, it always suspended the composition because it
was slow (glxgears worked as usual, though).

In system info, I get:

Supplier:  Intel Corporation
Model:  945 GM
2D driver:  intel
3D driver:  Classic unknown (7.10.2)

(I do not know whether this was different one month ago, when things used to
work OK).

I have tried several things, until I got the clue from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/7742...
: If I disable the blur effect, composition seems to work OK.

But I insist: before this last upgrade (i.e., with packages of late May),
composition used to work OK with the blur effect enabled.
