Niederwimmer <gjn@gjn.priv.at> 2012-10-03 09:42:03 UTC --- I have BIG Problems with Intel Bios (U)EFI and the hope is, the newer efibootmgr eliminate this Problems. Again, I tested a windows (7 64) install (EFI) 10-15 times I have NO Problem with the BIOS NVRAM. but with all SUSE / openSUSE installation I have the problem by testing, when I install a SUSE Product ( 5-10 test installation ) I have a never working motherboard. It is not possible to switch in the Bios Setup and other Problems. This Problem is on three different motherboards? The Boards are working again, after I delete the SUSE EFI String from the NVRAM? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Before we start packaging new version, can you just install it from sources in order to validate that it really helps, so that we avoid update without any effect? Can you check if you can configure the system with GRUB2 instead (which is the near future anyway)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Niederwimmer <gjn@gjn.priv.at> 2012-10-05 07:53:51 UTC --- Hello Jiri, I do this with the 12.2 and grub2 but the problem exist? I mean the problem is the write / update process to NVRAM, with efibootmgr, this filling the NVRAM. After the NVRAM is full the Bios can't work correct and the motherboard can't work correct. I have always only one (two SLES XEN) String in the NVRAM (efibootmgr -v) but I mean the rest are zeros? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Also note that openSUSE has switched to GRUB2 as default bootloader. If your bug is with efibootmanager, I suggest to close this one and create a new one, clearly against efibootmanager. If it is about firmware, we can hardly fix it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
