[Bug 392037] New: Sound Breaks up
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=392037 Summary: Sound Breaks up Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: bjohnson@blakeanthonyjohnson.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Whether I'm playing a video in Totem, or playing music in Banshee (not Banshee-1), if I minimize, maximize, or take focus of another window, more often than not, the sound will cut out for about a second. I'm not really sure what causes this, but I would imagine it might have something to do with a sound buffer of some sort. The latest one can be found as KOTD: http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ Anyway, check /proc/config.gz whether it contains CONFIG_GROUP_SCHED=y. If it's not set, the kernel must have the same effect as my previous test kernel. One interesting thing is whether the previous kernel is still worse than older SUSE kernels, or it's almost equivalent. If it's worse, we have to handle this case as a regression (although it's pretty hard to fix). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'll try checking out one of the KOTD kernels a bit later and report back. If by older SUSE kernels, you mean like 10.3, 10.2, etc. Then yes it is much worse.
