[Bug 1173924] New: Ibus anthy does not work.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1173924 Bug ID: 1173924 Summary: Ibus anthy does not work. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: ervindine@mailo.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I am using ibus in openSUSE KDE 15.2. I can use ibus normally with an input like MN17 pre Latin but when I added anthy to type in Japanese, it did not work, and neither could I switch to it using the super + space key combination. Interestingly enough a Japanese input from mn17 trycode, worked, but that is not used to type Japanese with a latin keyboard. I tested Chinese intelligent pinyin, it worked, I tested Korean hangul with a latin keyboard, Russian translit phonetic, worked. Only Anthy does not work and the alternative kkc is not available for ibus to install on openSUSE. I did not test it in mate or any other desktop, so maybe this a kde specific bug, but it seems to affect anthy only. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am using ibus in openSUSE KDE 15.2. I can use ibus normally with an input like MN17 pre Latin but when I added anthy to type in Japanese, it did not work, and neither could I switch to it using the super + space key combination.
It does not reproduce for me. What happens when you select Anthy from IBus's engine icon on KDE panel?
Only Anthy does not work and the alternative kkc is not available for ibus to install on openSUSE.
This is out of this topic but why do you think kkc is not available? Please just install ibus-kkc from the oss repository. Since ibus-mozc is the default engine for Japanese, please also try it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1173924 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1173924#c3 --- Comment #3 from Ervin Dine <ervindine@mailo.com> --- At first I could switch to it, the ibus icon would show the anthy icon but it would do nothing. After a restart of the system it would not even switch to it's icon. The other bug with ibus was that I could not use it on all applications. So I switched to fcitx and completely uninstalled ibus. For testing purposes I installed it again, restarted the system, quit fcitx, started ibus and this time ibus did not work at all. That's all I did. Ibus also would close if I closed the preferences window, after installing it the second time. Fcitx is working well but ibus is much more practical, it requires less user input to activate, easier to switch languages and more predictable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you have KDE "full" as it comes by default maybe? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

X11, Wayland, Full wayland? - How do you start input method? (Do you set environment variables?) - If you don't use Full wayland session + What happens if remove "Input method panel" widget from your KDE panel and restart? - What will be printed on Konsole by running the following command + $ ibus exit + $ ibus-daemon -vx + switching to ibus-anthy -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
