I now proudly run "Linux leningrad 2.6.25.15-SL110_BRANCH_20080806185640-default #1 SMP Fri Aug 8 23:31:27 CEST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux", so says uname -a. Alas, it seems as if nothing has changed! I managed to find a real MMC-card, and when inserted NOTHING happens, not even a mention of it in /var/log/messages! All that left me puzzled even more .... I blanked the SD-card (a kodak 2G from my digital camera) with all zeroes (so fdisk indeed didn't see the usual 55 AA ;-) ) and inserted it in the slot of my tp - with always the same error message! I got a (genuine SDHC) Sandisk 4 Gig from a friend, inserted it in the slot - and got nothing ! No error messages and fdisk doesn't even see a device in the slot ! Both cards perform flawlessly when accessed via an USB card-reader. .. SuSE 11.1 is great ;-)! But the SD-card problem remains exactly the same !!!!! When I insert the card, the green-reader-led comes up and the HD shows activity, but the error-console still shows exactly the same error messages - and I do not find the card ....! Could you pls look for this problem ? I have no time (for the moment) to reinstall another kernel, but as I told earlier, the problem has been there since SuSE 11.0, so I doubt that the kernel is the culprit? I'll give a try when I have somne time to spare. But for the moment could you tell me what exact modules should be loaded for the card-reader to work and what modules may not be loaded ? Could my hardware be broken ? You should have loaded the following modules: sdhci, sdhci_pci, mmc_core and mmc_block (which usually gets autoloaded as soon as you plug in a sd card).
