[Bug 660449] New: Running KDE on triple monitor configuration with aurorae theme makes it extremly slow
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=660449 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=660449#c0 Summary: Running KDE on triple monitor configuration with aurorae theme makes it extremly slow Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Milestone 5 of 6 Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: roli8200@yahoo.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/8.0.552.224 Safari/534.10 Have a triple monitor configuration based on two GeForce 9400 GT Graphics cards and Nvidia 260.19.21 driver. Two Monitors on first card with twin view, third one on second card (see attached xorg.conf. Running KDE with native qt rendering makes it completly unusable. It takes up to 2 seconds until a window is moveable (while press mouse key). Moves windows very very slow: 10sec from one screen to the other. Running a film clip with kaffeine or vlc makes desktop inaccessable until the film has ended. I have detected that it comes mainly from the aurorae window decoration and QT rendingering settings. Using the qtcurve window decoration and QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=raster makes it running in normal speed. Also disabling the third monitor makes it faster. Running gnome on the configuration which makes kde unusable has normal response times. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Milestone 5 2.Install Nvidia 260.19.21 driver 3.Configure x11 based on attached xorg.conf 4.Running KDE with QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native (default) Actual Results: KDE Desktop unusable Expected Results: Normal Desktop response time -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Which video driver are you using? It stands in the text: The proprietary Nvidia 260.19.21.

Then please find a way to test the bug without the proprietary driver, as we cannot/don't investigate bugs related to the proprietary drivers. This is exactly the problem. The triple monitor configuration does not work at all with the nouveau driver (it doesn't detects the second graphics card) and in the real live, everybody uses the proprietary driver.
