I had something similar (compareable) with SuSE 11.1. You had a patch for this and it worked after installing it. So i am in hope you could fix this up again? This was the one of the past: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=503096 This actual one is about SuSE 11.2; I should mention, this is distupgrade from the prior 11.1 to 11.2; ################################################# disk@wild-thing:~> uname -rio 2.6.31.8-0.1-desktop i386 GNU/Linux System: CPU: Core2Duo E6600; RAM: 4GB DDR2 800mhz; HDD's:3x Seagate SATA II (2) 80G and (1) 500 G;

Ok will do.
Can you ping me if there is a good time for?
Sure.
Ehm, should i just issue a onliner then?
# rpm -i kernel-desktopXyz.rpm kernel-desktop-baseXyz.rpm ?
Yes.
I was thinking of switching from by-id to other device name way... for portability to get around that problem of the device id... But i guess i will consider this for the next time when installing a fresh SuSE.
Or i will ask in a Forum about... How's it? Should i be able to boot, if i hadn't set "by-id" and if my system would use lets say /dev/xy ?
I don't really think so. If udev doesn't work, you won't get the /dev/xy files as well, if a driver is missing, it won't work anyway. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi!
Many thanks for your reply.
So would it be the proper setting in this way now?
I think so.
Or shouldn't it be set like the enable_mtrr_cleanup does it?
No, that may lead to problems on some systems AFAICS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
