[Bug 325541] New: left hand USB ports on Lenovo/Thinkpad T61 don' t respond to hot plug
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=325541 Summary: left hand USB ports on Lenovo/Thinkpad T61 don't respond to hot plug Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 3 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rsmegal@aardvarr.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Created an attachment (id=172683) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=172683) Kinfocentre snapshot Plugging in a device such as a mouse or USB stick does not elicit any obvious response from the o/s for the left hand side USB ports of the Lenovo/Thinkpad T61. The single USB port on the right hand side works perfectly for a mouse, a USB stick and a USB hard drive (Lacie d2). All ports appear to work under windows vista. A Kinfocentre screen shot of the USB mouse successfully plugged into the (working) right hand side port is attached. Additional information: when the wireless hardware switch is turned off, the Broadcom BCM2045B as shown in the attached screen shot is replaced by biometric, which I believe is the fingerprint scanner. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

A mouse was plugged into the working RHS USB port. File lsusb_before was generated before a memory stick was plugged into one of the non-working LHS USB ports; lsusb_after was generated by lsusb -v after the stick was plugged in. lshal -m did not show a change when the stick was plugged in. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Are the ports also inactive directly after the boot? Check your logs for information on any dead irqs (the "nobody cared" messages.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=325541#c5 --- Comment #5 from Rick Smegal <rsmegal@aardvarr.ca> 2007-10-23 15:58:20 MST --- I have returned to work on the T61. After a recent system boot I found no reports of dead IRQs and all USB ports appear to work. Apparently, one of the kernel pathches must have fixed the problem. I am still using 10.3 beta 3 but I'll watch for the USB problem after I upgrade to 10.3 release (soon). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
