[opensuse-bugs] [Bug 1179099] New: Vidcutter is not able to open the input file (mpv error)
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179099 Bug ID: 1179099 Summary: Vidcutter is not able to open the input file (mpv error) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: stakanov@freenet.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 843797 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=843797&action=edit cli output - vidcutter cannot open any input file The new vidcutter version 6 does not open the input file (video) because it is complaining about an mpv error. It does not crash and open normally but any work of any kind is possible. The opening of the program gives some insight claiming a critical error of an mpv plugin(?). I join the output file in attachment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This is positive since (for another bug) the program prior was not able to cut and elaborate anything (created the same output as input only larger). Still, although this obviates the problems of not opening, it does currently not produce a result file. The project seems to be saved correctly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Invalid entry at line 2: 490.000000 1453.0400000 0 So the resulting project file is there but unusable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

All bugs recorded are therefore without it. While trying every source of error: I also deactivated "run more then one instance" and "osd". None makes a difference. I have verbose logging activated so, if you tell me what to recover I can give you insight via the logs. a) were are they and b) what do you need (or do I "dump" raw everything?)? With "smartcut" the program blocks immediately. 0% and no cpu activity. The problem seems all the time with "indexes" it complains about. Either way, once you restart the project registered beforehand after deactivating smart cut, it fails with the aforementioned (or similar) error. The system is an AMD Phenom 4x with 32 GB RAM DDR3 and a RX600 (HD2000 type) AMD graphics card on a PCI-e 8x slot (the first and only of the motherboard). So hardware wise, in the past, the few periods the program ran as it should, it terminated the jobs in very short time. Working Vidcutter version is now back in time for quite some time. I think about 6 month... bugs were filed here (problems began recently again with the "does not elaborate any file"). But the current status of "blocking at 66%" with that very error occurred also in the past and then was fixed, appeared again, then was fixed... so it is actually a regression and it would be nice if we identify the problem so when it reoccurs it can be tackled more efficiently. What I did not try yet is to deactivate the hardware support, as it should fall back automatically. I can try that too and then report back. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Author of VidCutter here. The 66% bug is only for SmartCut and I've never seen it occur otherwise. Does this happen with all types of videos or just a specific one you're trying out because I cannot reproduce this, even SmartCut works for 90% of my testing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179099 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179099#c7 --- Comment #7 from Pete Alexandrou <pete@ozmartians.com> --- You originally stated this as an mpv error which has been fixed with version 6.0.5 which should be updated sometime soon when maintainers get around to it. Recent updates to MPV caused those initial errors reports but what you're now stating is another issue entirely. Please confirm that the initial error you reported re mpv "operation not permitted" errors are no longer occurring, as seen in the attached CLI log, with the latest version and that your issue is specific to your video/setup and we can explore from there. Ensure SmartCut is off so its direct cutting as its impossible for that to occur otherwise. Don't open project, just open video itself and try a quick cut. http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179099 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179099#c8 --- Comment #8 from Stakanov Schufter <stakanov@freenet.de> --- OK, I have now managed to get an output. I used an m2t file. What was actually needed was a lot of excess space in the home directory. This because the program does not cut at all. It creates a huge clone of the original m2t file and does not honor any indication on what to cut and what to save. There is after the start a long period without output in the CLI window. Then he claims your file is ready. There are no errors or whatever in the cli, just a lot of volume in the final file. I told to create a intial 10 minutes section of the file and the program created instead a kind of clone of the original file of the size of 3 GB. So I guess when I had the 20 GB or so available to work, while working it stopped at 66 because home was full (I did not have a warning though, this is a bit odd). I now freed largely enough space to be sure that does not occur (about 56 GB free). It does seem to reach 100% and an output but still it produces these uncut "clone" outputs. But good news, no mpv error. And good news, it does open the source file. Actually, seems strange but I see not activity of vidcutter in "top" at all, until in the end it suddenly reappears in "top" hierarchy and saves. I would have expected to grab all available cpu resources instead? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The bug that it does not cut and produce a valuable output is already reported in another bug here.
