[Bug 1048216] New: btrfs balance causes boot problem
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1048216 Bug ID: 1048216 Summary: btrfs balance causes boot problem Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE 42.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ralf.koelmel@kit.edu QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- With the newest kernel 4.4.74-18.20-default i have had the problem that a btrfs balance was running during boot time and has frozen the cpu and the boot process. Further reset and reboot wasn't successful. I could resolve the problem with booting a recovery system, creating a chroot context and executing the balance and scrub jobs (no errors found, no quota/qgroup configured) manually on the btrfs root filesystem. Before this boot problem the virtualized system wasn't accessable with full cpu load. I couldn't clarify in the logs, what has caused the initial problem, but i would guess that a btrfs balance has caused this in the running system. Otherwise i couldn't imagine that a btrfs balance will be started at boot time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
