This shows a critical break-down of product development, testing and distribution. Though this originally was an "open-source" version", later copies are labeled as "Retail". I have one of these "Retailed" versions. In which the "Desktop Effects" still does not work. This systemic problem needs to be addressed! ________________________________________________________________________________ After activating Desktop Effects, all of the effects and the window's top control bar become unavailable. This required disabling the Desktop Effects. Note: This effects both downloads from SuSE and third party distributors. uname -a gives: Linux Mongoose 2.6.22.12-0.1-default #1 SMP 2007/11/06 23:05:18 UTC x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Display Driver is: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.19-pkg2. Actually I will be delaying a little more. Had to replace the 6600 with a 8600GT. Snapped off a power cap. off the 6600 during an upgrade. I didn't want take the time to solder it back on. I got passed the documented problems with the 8600GT. Now I am back to where I was with the 6600... 3D activated, no title bar on the terminals. No virtual screens and so on after activating DeskTop Effects. I am starting Compiz_Fusion page again.
