[Bug 594981] New: rrdtool always reporting "This RRD was created on another architecture"
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=594981 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=594981#c0 Summary: rrdtool always reporting "This RRD was created on another architecture" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kairo@kairo.at QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.3a5pre) Gecko/20100408 Lightning/1.1a1pre SeaMonkey/2.1a1pre Not sure if the component is really correct, but I figured rrdtool is most often used with networking stuff. I think it's since about the gcc 4.5 switch that rrdtool on Factory reports "This RRD was created on another architecture" on anything I want to do with any RRD database - even on those the same rrdtool version created itself, and even after doing the export to XML and re-import trick that is recommended when this message pops up due to actual architecture problems. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an RRD database with rrdtool. 2. Use either rrdtool update to add info or rrdtool graph to get info out of it. Actual Results: "This RRD was created on another architecture" Expected Results: Working updates and graphs. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=594981 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=594981#c1 --- Comment #1 from Robert Kaiser <kairo@kairo.at> 2010-04-08 19:53:51 UTC --- Oh, as a side note, installing the old rrdtool from 11.2 on the same system (ignoring any dependencies) clears up this problem - but it's even a different (older) rrdtool version than on factory, so not sure how helpful this is. The problematic version is rrdtool-1.4.3-1.4.i586 (as I said from Factory), the working one from 11.2 is rrdtool-1.3.7-2.7.i586 - but as mentioned, I strongly suspect gcc 4.5 as the cause, as the kernel also had some problems with alignment of data in IIRC structs and I wouldn't wonder if rrdtool also makes some assumptions there that gcc 4.5 might not hold any more. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually rrdtool does not respect that according to C99, the values of operations with floating operands and values subject to the usual arithmetic conversions and of floating constants are evaluated to a format whose range and precision may be greater than required by the type. Fixed for factory. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I currently still see a 1.4.3-1.7 build on April 15 in the Factory repo. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
