https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=875369 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=875369#c0 Summary: update-bootloader stuck in infinite loop Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: admin@ifyouwantblood.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=587840) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=587840) strace of `update-bootloader` User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/33.0.1750.152 Safari/537.36 SUSE/33.0.1750.152 this is a tumbleweed install. update-bootloader is stuck in an infinite loop (running +15min - high cpu usage seen in top). this prevents installing a new kernel via zypper as - of course - the %postinstall never finishes. attached find an strace of `update-bootloader --refresh`. the strace stops right after opening "/boot/grub2/grub.cfg" and reading "#\n"# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE\n#\n#. @Sebastian: You can check grub.cfg by running grub2-script-check.
i havn't got a clue what `grub2-script-check` does or how to invoke it, but running it as supersuser.... well.... it doesn't finish with the shiny new grub.cfg created by grub2-mkconfig. i left it running for about 10 minutes and all i can say is, that it's CPU efficient as it doesn't raise my load, but it never finishes. and as it's compiled i'm unable to "easily" debug it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
