[Bug 368472] New: acroread 8.1 misinterprets mouse coordinates
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=368472 Summary: acroread 8.1 misinterprets mouse coordinates Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Commercial AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: myrosia@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I recently installed the latest version of acroread on my Sony laptop. It is unusable because it misreads the mouse X coordinate. It's best visible on the attached screenshot: my mouse pointer is over a "start an acrobat meeting" button, but the "next page" is highlighted instead, and you can see its tooltip. The same happens with all elements, including the menus and the scrollbar, making it impossible to use the mouse sensibly. All other applications run fine, and have no mouse problems. I am running OpenSuse 10.3 with all the latest updates, using xorg.conf i810 driver acroread-8.1.2-1.4 kdebase3-3.5.7-87.5 xorg-x11-7.2-135.4 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This reminded me of another possible relevant fact. This configuration is xinerama, with cloned display. Can't turn it off, because the laptop has a broken backlight, so the main screen is not usable (I can see just enough to log myself in and out, if I try really hard, but that's about it).
This won't work with vesa driver, maybe with fbdev. Anyway, if this issue only happens within the acroread window it's likely no video driver issue. So forget about creating any vesa/fbdev driver configuration. Did/does this happen also with older acroread versions? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The resolutions are the same for both, 1280x1024. My LCD is not wide-screen, and both support this.
I never heard of a 1280x1024 internal display for a Laptop. Different resolutions on internal and external screen might be an explanation for the behaviour you'r seing. (In reply to comment #17 from Myroslava Dzikovska)

I can't see there a multihead configuration at all. Indeed 1280x1024 is used as configuration, but that you get a picture on your external monitor I think this only happens by accident. You could try to use the intel driver with its RANDR 1.2 features instead, but since you don't see anything on your internal display, the configuration will probably be a nightmare. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

i810 driver can only do clone mode, i.e. the same resolution internal and external. So this can't be the reason. But maybe you can try it with a different resolution. Rund 'xrandr' to figure out which resolutions are available, then switch to them using xrandr -s <width>x<height> After the switch restart acroread. But that's really just a shot in the dark. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
