Holding down a keyboard key will let it resume booting. It has no effect with 11.3. It may not be timer related. Ran across a forum thread here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/442334-b... Using kernel-default fixes this bug. I guess there is some obscure setting in kernel-desktop that's conflicting with certain hardware profiles.
