Just now found out that this happens even when I switch terminals - doesn't matter if I switch from X to vt or from one vt to another.
Does this happen during a vt switch even if you've never suspended/resumed?
I'm sorry, it has been more than 2 years since I reported this and I've moved on to openSUSE 13.2 (planning to move to Leap soon) and a new laptop. My new laptop (T440s) comes with Intel card and not ATI. So I cannot provide any information on this bug. If no one else has ever seen these crashes or issues, feel free to close this report. (But it is sad that after losing so much time and work during these crashes on my old laptop, this bug report couldn't gather enough attention!)
