[Bug 1106577] amdgpu/Carrizo: With kernel greater than 4.18.0, it causes X to consume 100% of CPU and crashes system hard

I've been a KDE user since 1.0, and used sddm since it replaced kdm. I've never used gdm. I am thinking about putting in a different HD and doing a new install to see if it is hardware or what exactly. Using a new user should rule out anything in my home I would think, since it creates the whole directory structure and all new files for a new user. Messing with files in /tmp had some success but nothing consistent. Even if it would mean a lot of work, I am willing to redo my root partition by installing new if it might fix this problem, but I also have my doubts, thus my idea to do a new install on a separate HD. If I can get the time to try, I will report back. But for now, for sure it is not gdm. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
