While zypper checks and reports whether the package is already installed, it fails to do this if another provider is installed. The 1.st command should report something like 'kmix' providing 'kdemultimedia3-mixer; is already installed. The silence is confusing. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The 1.st command should report something like
'kmix' providing 'kdemultimedia3-mixer; is already installed.
The silence is confusing.
It seems it works with recent libzypp/zypper. This is from git: $ LANG=en zypper in kdemultimedia3-mixer Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... 'kmix' providing 'kdemultimedia3-mixer' is already installed. Resolving package dependencies... Nothing to do. I have a faint memory of fixing this, but can't find the commit. (In reply to comment #4)
I hope --force would have done the job, besides kde4-kmix not having to provide kdemultimedia3-mixer.
--force would not, but --name would - selects packages by name instead of capabilities they provide. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
