http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=537914 Summary: Complete Failure to Perform Online Update from Various Repositories for Various Reasons Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=317503) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=317503) 50+ .jped screen show download errors including retry of the same file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 An Online update was performed updating many applications, where the updates came from some community repositories. Initial failure notice were retryed at least once before the update file was determined not to be possible. Attached are 50 + archived failures of online update from various repositories for various reasons. I know you will need log files - but please specify if you require both Yast and Zypper or other by setting needinfo Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Reproducible logic not possible 2. 3. Actual Results: Failure of downloads of updates from various repositories Expected Results: Even if initial file download- the Retry should always succeed. If any dependant update file fails the associated dependency files should auto cancel and no further attempt made to download dependency files when primary file update fails or is skipped manually. Reason codes for failure should be expanded into more plain English WITH a statement about repercussions of dependency update failure IF this cannot be enforced. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Off course it works for you - You probably obtain your files from a different mirror and as I am in Australia my mirror suffers sometimes from file replications where the files updates are incomplete. Until we can get back to a situation where we can easily see the ACTUAL mirror in the log this will continue to occur from time to time. Our Audit does not tell us the actual mirror and until it can we will never pinpoint the mirror that holds files that are corrupted. Smoke and mirrors we leave for the circus, but for audit we need to have a way to actually see the actual mirror - Re-open -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes its a Dupe of the bug your found already open. Its a bit of a bugger sometimes finding dupes already in the system especially when their are not filed under the same Software Version. I think we should add, to the default search when opening a new bugs, to include the corresponding enterprise software to avoid this. Something to think about - Leave it to you to decide to open a feature request to change default search, which is above every new 'create new bug' button to include Enterprise Products :-) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But currently bugzilla does not offer this. Until that happens, i don't mind those cross-product duplicates ;) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The update server is Http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/opensuse/update/11.1/rpm/x86_64/pid- can you please arrange to TOTAL refresh of this update mirror in respect to 11.1 update data. I understand that the duplicate resolution is to have the log data reflect the actual mirror and this needs to remain. In this situation the above update mirror has more that 40 or so corrupted 11.1 update files. This mirrors IP is 150.101.135.3 and the following analysis of their comms delays tells the whole story for their errors in their hugely poor response times. A Traceroute of the mirrors IP of 150.101.135.3 tells the story of possible poor comms response times. This URL is valid for 7 day from date only. http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/tracert?ip=150.101.135.3&timeout= -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
