[Bug 513014] New: Gnome desktop under VMware Workstation can't export windows using "Unity"
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=513014 Summary: Gnome desktop under VMware Workstation can't export windows using "Unity" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: znmeb@cesmail.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 I have an x86_64 system running openSUSE 11.1 and VMware Workstation 6.5.2 build-156735. I built a 32-bit openSUSE 11.1 guest image using SUSE Studio beta. The guest has both Gnome and XFCE desktops and has open-vm-tools-gui installed. When I log in to an XFCE session, I can activate "Unity" mode on VMware Workstation, which exports the windows on the guest to the host desktop. But when I log in to a Gnome session, I get the following error message trying to start the "Unity" mode: The virtual machine cannot enter Unity mode because: - Unity is not supported on this guest operating system. - The guest operating system's resolution cannot be changed. I haven't tried KDE yet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 11.1 and VMware Workstation 6.5.2 on the host. 2. Build an openSUSE 11.1 guest with open-vm-tools-gui, Gnome and XFCE desktops. 3. Power up the guest, open a window and try to enter "Unity" mode. Actual Results: See error message above. Expected Results: Opened up a window on the host. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
