[Bug 604255] New: Formatting and mounting fails - System error code was: -3030
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604255 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604255#c0 Summary: Formatting and mounting fails - System error code was: -3030 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: a.winzer@koenig-dey.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Hello, first I had an openSUSE 11.2 with an (faked) RAID 1 on a Promise Fasttrack S150 TX2plus (BIOS 1.00.0.37) and I tried to upgrade it with zypper. I used the ISO of the 11.3 MS6 x86 DVD as the only repository. After reboot I got the error described here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538189. So I tried a fresh installation. The installation system recognizes the hdds as RAID at all. After partitioning and choosing the software parts, grub destination, firewall, ssh etc. the formatting and mounting fails. I always get the message: "System error code was: -3030" I can't understand that. I've already tried a search maschine without a helping result. I don't even know, what error code -3030 means. I'm also not sure about "the component". Is my old Fasttrack not supported any more. If so, I wont keep reporting my trouble ... Otherwise I don't know, why this seems to happen with every new openSUSE. Thanks Alex Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Running installation at least for GM. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Right now I can at least format the partitions and install the system. After reboot I got exactly the same messages as described here https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538189#c0. I tried to boot into the fail installed system without success. In YaST (installer) I always get the messages in the mentioned sequence: "Calling the YaST Module `inst_repair has failed" If I choose go back or continue the next Message which says "Calling the YaST Module `inst_mode has failed" What further Information do you need? The LV had existed before, I had chosen to format and mount it (as /). Formatting the device worked, but it was not mounted (error -3030). I found the following situation: /dev/dm-6 existed /dev/vg/os11.2 -> /dev/mapper/vg-os11.2 But /dev/mapper/vg-os11.2 did not exist! I solved the problem by symlinking /dev/mapper/vg-os11.2 -> ../dm-6 manually from the command line. Installation continued successfully.
