I used to have the following working IBUS configuration: - IBUS is started on login, icon appears next to the a11y icon - enabling/disabling IM with Alt+Shift+Space - using only ipa-x-sampa - disabled after login until I press Alt+Shift+Space
After upgrading to GNOME 3.6 from GNOME:STABLE:3.6, the following happens: - there is no icon, so no way to configure anything This is iBus supposed to be when you use 1 input engine, configuration in control panel.
- the input method is switched on by default, which of course makes no sense for X-SAMPA, which is only used for typing phonetic symbols. I don't get what is your actual results, and what is your expected results here.
- the only way to get my normal keyboard back was to "killall dbus-daemon", my shortcut configured via ibus-setup didn't work - even then, for some reason I had US English layout instead of my previous German In iBus you should add English engine obviously.then you can switch between diff input method.
The US English layout could be a different bug, and was easily fixed by going into GNOME system settings -> Region and Language -> Input Sources.
(I'm now going to do some more experiments including logging off to find out whether this will go away by itself, but I doubt it.) Reproducible: Didn't try
