The error message "cupsd: Child exited with status 1" doesn't show the actual cause of the problem. If you like to debug it, see our online documentation /usr/share/doc/manual/opensuse-manual_en/manual/sec.drucken.prob.html "Debugging the CUPS Print System" (package opensuse-manual_en) or http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell "If problems are encountered".
