[Bug 290391] New: dbus looses track of acpid - events
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=290391 Summary: dbus looses track of acpid - events Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Sytstem - environment: openSUSE 10.2 on a X60 lenovo laptop. Kernel 2.6.21-190 derivate with some additional power saving options activated. I added a script on my notebook that is controlled by powersaved. I recognized that every other time AC power switch events get lost without reason. Further debugging led me to following result: - acpid catches all events - dbus catches the events, too, but every other time does not pass the corresponding command string to powersaved. - Bios upgrade led to no success. Example: ACPID writes sequentially (with each power plug / unplug event into /var/log/acpid) ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000001 ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000000 **** Apparently the final "1" means "power on" in contrast to the final "0" meaning "power off" This correlates with the sequence: string "ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000001" string "acadapter.online" string "ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000000" string "acadapter.offline" (among other string messages) from dbus. In those cases in which powersaved (due to dbus) does not work as expected, the final string message 'string "acadapter.offline"' is missing, however, the "00000080 00000000" still arrives. This could probably explain, why sometimes actions are not performed because a part of a message is simply missing. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This correlates with the sequence: string "ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000001" string "acadapter.online" string "ac_adapter AC 00000080 00000000" string "acadapter.offline"
(among other string messages) from dbus.
You're using dbus-monitor, right? From which application does the last line come?
In those cases in which powersaved (due to dbus) does not work as expected, the final string message 'string "acadapter.offline"' is missing, however, the "00000080 00000000" still arrives.
Only the "00000080 00000000"? The "ac_adapter " is missing too from this line? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
