I installed the the Broadcom firmware by issuing : inote:~ # zypper in b43-fwcutter followed by : inote:~ # /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware At first attempt my notebook froze during the installation, just after finishing download. I rebooted and installed again. This time I encountered a kernel panic. Current kernel version is 3.11.1-1.g1383321-desktop. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install b43-fwcutter 2. I am running openSUSE 13.1 Beta 1 64bit on HP Compaq 6515b. My wireless adaptor is a Broadcom BCM4311.

lspci output shows it as BCM4311 though. ------------------------ I just installed openSUSE 13.1 RC 1 KDE. At first 2 trials my notebook froze just like during installation in the Beta. On the third try installation completed successfully without freezing.
Now, I can't be sure what was bugging unless someone else having the same type of notebook & Broadcom adaptor reproduces the error.
