[Bug 1174289] New: Gimp 2.10 in Leap 15.2 crashes at copy/paste action
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1174289 Bug ID: 1174289 Summary: Gimp 2.10 in Leap 15.2 crashes at copy/paste action Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: malte.gell@gmx.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- When opening a large image (e.g. 2500x1200 and 5 MB) with Gimp 2.10 in Leap 15.2 and execute EDIT=>COPY copy action, Gimp crashes often. It almost always crashes, when copying the image within Gimp and then paste into other app. How to reproduce: open large image, EDIT=>COPY in Gimp. Now try to paste in another application, e.g. LibreOffice. Sometimes the copy action in Gimp works, but when pasting in LibreOffice, gimp crashes. Used Software: Leap 15.2 KDE Plasma 5.18.5 This is what Gimp outputs while crashing: The program 'gimp' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 36587 error_code 3 request_code 18 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I also use KDE and GIMP is unusable in Leap 15.2 as any file I tested when copy some part of it crashes GIMP. I have tested also GIMP 2.10.20 from home:ecsos Community and have got the same chrash results with this version. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I confirm same here. I also use KDE and GIMP is unusable in Leap 15.2 as any file I tested when copy some part of it crashes GIMP.
I have tested also GIMP 2.10.20 from home:ecsos Community and have got the same chrash results with this version.
Also Gimp 2.10.20 from the official graphics repo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/graphics/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/ still has that issue It seems to be bit more stable than 2.10.12, but still crashes when copying/pasting large/very large images. This issue seems to be known for quite some time, I guess only the Gimp folks can investigate that deeply https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/2733 https://github.com/hluk/CopyQ/issues/636 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

At least I have always crashes in InkScape when I try to copy some elements in a InkScape SVG file. I found it suspicious about some troubles in the operation system instead in GIMP. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
