It almost always crashes, when copying the image within Gimp and then paste into other app. How to reproduce: open large image, EDIT=>COPY in Gimp. Now try to paste in another application, e.g. LibreOffice. Sometimes the copy action in Gimp works, but when pasting in LibreOffice, gimp crashes.
