[Bug 381003] New: Blank screen with NVidia Quadro FX 570M on a Lenovo T61p

I tried to installed it brand new with all updates.) I have a very high resolution on my lenovo T61p (1920 x 1200) and tried to install openSuse with the right resolution. At first, I think the possible offered resolution is wrong 1920x1200x75 (I am not sure, if a refresh rate of 75 is possible on my notebook screen, but maybe it should work. At least, it didn't work on an external monitor either, but maybe this is a different problem). When I use 1920x1200x75, I get a blank screen and the system is gone. I tried the same for a resolution of 1440x900(and I think a refresh rate of 60). Same result. I tried to install the system with lower resolutions some months before and that worked (800x600 or 1024x768). But even when I tried to test another resolution I got a blank screen with no possibility to come back (->had to kill the system with power button). As I mentioned, seems to be similar to #300604 but is still in the current release. Could you give openSUSE 11.0 Beta1 a try? Or in case you know how to compile the nv driver sources and where to find them try with the latest release 2.1.8? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I had some problems to create an installation medium and tried an installation with a boot-disk and got the rest over the network. Selected KDE4, Thinkpad T61 on Docking Station and Samsung 244T. Resolution was 1024/1280/60 (hopefully - didn't change something, should have been the default) Everything worked (except some signature error that I skipped). I was able to do the install until after the switch to the command line to find out the right graphics card/driver. After the switch back and a short period of time, the screen turns black and no further action is possible. I don't even had a chance to change something. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Then please attach /var/log/SaX.log, /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Everything is ok as long as I start without external environment, so I think the driver works basically. The problem is with a docking station/external monitor which is still a problem, because this might be a problem with more lenovo notebooks on a docking station. I don't know what to do further. Would be nice to fix this problem/open a separate bug report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Docking station support is a seperate issue, since the support in nv driver for external output is very "limited". Not sure if it makes much sense to open another bugreport for that. I'm afraid you'll end up with the proprietary NVIDIA driver sooner or later. Closing this issue (internal panel) as fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
