[Bug 353832] New: Instances of poor warning pop-ups
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=353832 Summary: Instances of poor warning pop-ups Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: ed-dori-robinov@att.net QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: Customer When I reinstalled my SUSE I kept my home directory. Gnome had me having some sort of Microsoft keyboard and I was using a Logitech300DX keyboard. Well the warning that popped up was ambiguous. I only figured that the x and not the Gnome was the setting I preferred. If you had said if you choose this then that will be the setting. I think that the description of what to choose should have been more clear. I have a button that is marked to increase and decrease the sound on my keyboard. It worked. That is how I know I made the right choice. Today I was not able to access the update and software management site. I was searching and found all sorts of fixes. I even removed all the repositories that needed the Internet. Well in my search I came across the web address you use for your repositories list in your Yast. I checked the link out in my browser and it turned out that the problem was a hardware crash at your end. Linux is a great operating system. Suse is fantastic. I find that there is a need for some better documentation. The problem is that the communication that is there is often geared to someone who already knows the answer. Instead of saying that there was a failure to communicate a verbose statement that I saw on the Internet that the site was down would have saved a heap of time. Another documentation instance with my upgrade. My computer on board hard drive was not recognized. The original system crashed and caused this problem. Well I tried seaching on /dev/SDA and the label of the drive and everything that I could think of. I didn't think of Windows drive. That gave me the proper answer. Your search function should have a little more flexibility when articles are indexed. It should be a little broader than strictly a string search in an article. You have tons of documentation. I have found some errors but even errors can lead to solutions. Adding SUSE to a search is not a waste of time. It really narrows down the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But this is much too much for one report; please, create one per issue. All in all this mainly does not seem to be a documentation bug. For the moment, let's concentrate on Logitech300DX keyboard support. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably will not backport to 10.2. Feel free to reopen if you still see this with an 11.0 install. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
