[Bug 271207] New: opensuse-buildservice: building KMPs needs some packages of the base target updated
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=271207 Summary: opensuse-buildservice: building KMPs needs some packages of the base target updated Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 URL: http://rudin.suse.de:8894/package/show?package=bluesmoke &project=home%3Atroytelford OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: BuildService AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: froh@novell.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com CC: agruen@novell.com, mls@novell.com BugsThisDependsOn: 269677 +++ This bug was initially created as a copy of Bug #269677 +++ (In reply to bug 269677#c15)
It is *not* defined on SLES10 systems here. It really depends on the installed rpm package. rpm-4.4.2-43.4 on the GA doesn't have the macro, rpm-4.4.2-43.7 from the online update has it.
The (optional) online update has the following description: --- This update fixes a few problems when building Kernel Module Packages (KMPs), and fixes how initrds are regenerated when they include modules from kernel module packages. When not building kernel module packages, this update can safely be ignored. ---
Hmm. Our SLES10 build service project doesn't contain online update packages (on purpose, so that built packages work with old SLES systems).
First, thx for looking into the details of this :) ! Now this rpm is needed to build KMPs in the build server, right? How can we provide some kind of a KMP-SDK on top of SLE10 that has this in it, and any other possibly required rpm updates? while manually hard coding the %define kernel_source() /usr/src/linux-obj/%_target_cpu/%{1} into the spec file works around this, I have to admit I'd prefer if the KMP Manual worked out of the box on the build server, too, I mean prefer over documenting the work-around. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=271207 ------- Comment #2 from froh@novell.com 2007-05-07 07:50 MST ------- If you want to build for sle10 GA, how does the sp1 update help? we need to be able to build to both, GA and SP1, independent from each other, and both need to work. so we somehow need to have the packages that build KMPs updated to the patchlevel that works, while using e.g. the GA kernel-source.rpm one solution could be having the updated packages (rpm.rpm, not sure which ones in addition that yet, need to check w/ agruen) in the SDK, or have the patches as repos and then use them in the repo path. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
