Here is a workaround, because nobody seems to be interested to fix the problem: Take the source for the keucr module from 2.6.38 from drivers/staging/keucr. Copy it to another empty directory and create the following Makefile in that directory: ccflags-y := -Idrivers/scsi obj-$(CONFIG_USB_ENESTORAGE) += keucr.o keucr-y := \ sdscsi.o \ usb.o \ scsiglue.o \ transport.o \ init.o \ msscsi.o \ ms.o \ smscsi.o \ smilmain.o \ smilsub.o \ smilecc.o Before you can compile the old keucr module, you have to install kernel-devel, kernel-desktop-devel (if you have a desktop kernel) and may be kernel-source. Go to the directory with the old keucr sources and enter: make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd` as root: make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd` O=/lib/modules/`uname -r`/build modules_install Blacklist ums_eneub6250 in /etc/modprobe.d/99-local.conf: blacklist ums_eneub6250 (if it has already been loaded, remove it with rmmod) depmod -a modinfo keucr filename: /lib/modules/3.0.0-39-desktop/extra/keucr.ko license: GPL description: ENE USB Mass Storage driver for Linux author: Domao srcversion: 3AB5BAF0CE33E40884509F8 alias: usb:v0CF2p6250d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* alias: usb:v0CF2p6230d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* alias: usb:v058Fp6366d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* depends: vermagic: 3.0.0-39-desktop SMP preempt mod_unload modversions -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi Andreas, Do you have used ums_eneub6250 with ene-cardreader firmware? I got these firmware license and pushed the patch to dwmw2@infradead.org, and this patch accepted at 29 Jul. You can got from http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/dwmw2/linux-firmware.git;a=tree May you kindly try it at first? Please let me know if there are problems. I could see from the sourcecode, that the module should load some of these firmware files: ls -l /lib/firmware/ene-ub6250/ insgesamt 24 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:41 ene-ub6250_ms_init.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:42 ene-ub6250_msp_rdwr.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:41 ene-ub6250_ms_rdwr.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:42 ene-ub6250_sd_init1.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:43 ene-ub6250_sd_init2.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 8. Aug 20:43 ene-ub6250_sd_rdwr.bin - but they are never loaded. In function ene_load_bincode, a errormessage is thrown, if the firmware file cannot be loaded - but I didn't get any error as I tested without the firmware files. With firmware files, the problem stays the same - because the firmware didn't get loaded at all (seems to be so). I will help you to fix that problem. If you have a patch or something to test, I will try to do it. But I would be glad, if you could isolate the module (or the modules in drivers/usb/storage) for compilation (if it's possible). It would have reduced the overhead for me and for you :-) Another wish would be, to not replace a driver, which is working by a driver, which isn't ready for use at all. The SD-functionality of keucr was removed in 2.6.39, which was released in May 2011, the firmware for the new driver came 11 days ago (from today). Here is a patched original keucr source (tested with linux 3.9, but most probably works too with 3.7), which makes the device working again. You can compile it with the make-command, which is part of the attached tar.xz file. After compiling, you can install it with ./make modules_install. Afterwards you have to issue depmod -a and you have to "blacklist ums_eneub6250" in /etc/modprobe.d/99-local.conf. Verify with modinfo keucr that the new keucr module is used and not the reduced one delivered with the kernel: modinfo keucr filename: /lib/modules/3.9.3-2.g06ad9d8-desktop/extra/keucr.ko license: GPL description: ENE USB Mass Storage driver for Linux author: Domao srcversion: A663ED5858DE5D7CE808147 alias: usb:v0CF2p6250d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*in* alias: usb:v0CF2p6230d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*in* alias: usb:v058Fp6366d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*in* depends: vermagic: 3.9.3-2.g06ad9d8-desktop SMP preempt mod_unload modversions -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
