[Bug 623786] New: multiple mount points created for removable devices
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623786 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623786#c0 Summary: multiple mount points created for removable devices Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jdd@dodin.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.0.3, Ant.com Toolbar 1.1 When the mounting/umounting of USB device is managed through the kde plasmoid, the mount point is created then removed (at umounting), no problem, this works great. But is the computer is halted or rebooted when the device is still connected, the mount point is *not* removed, so at the next boot a new mount point is created (name-1, then 2...) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. There is a workaround, setting a fixed mountpoint manually or with YaST, and an fstab entry. However this don't works always, at least it don't work with ntfs disks. There is a known problem with the user(s) option for ntfs-3g, so an user can't mount an ntfs disk like this. may be the kde applet should be given some time (or instructions) to umount/remove the mount point when halting. There is a thread on the subject on the french forum ATM (http://forums.opensuse.org/other-languages/francais-french/aide-et-support/m...) and in the english forum (http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/hardware/442233-automount-u...) but all this gives only complicated workaround -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But I don't know how useful the bug is, as the current mounting is done through HAL and HAL is dying slowly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't know if it's only on my computer (I may have set a patch and forget it), but as I'm the reporter of the bug I think better to close it as fixed. Reopen it (or open a new one) if necessary. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
