not sure if all you need is in the kernel or do you still need firmware
Yes, firmware is still needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

OK, true, I can browse the available networks... But I seem to be unable to connect to our WPA-secured network. The process of connecting is much more complicated as before: it seems that without ALL information about the AP it is impossible to connect.
Simplified in Beta3 already. Only the PSK is needed for WPA-PSK connections.
Also, any trial to connect now shows up as a new Wifi network, and I can't find how to delete or reconfigure them...
Done in Beta3 (at least you can delete connections). Nevertheless KNM for 11.0 is still work in progress. The initial issue is resolved, therefore closing this one as INVALID. Daniel, feel free to open a new bug if you cannot connect to your WPA network after trying Beta3. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ah, I forgot to make this clear: this is with Beta 3! So the simplification either did not fully work yet, or it remains disfunctional!
Does the AP broadcast its SSID? If not you might have to enter all the right information with drivers not supporting ssid-scans. Using an iwl3945 and iwl4965 card/driver I had no problems to connect to hidden/non-hidden wpa-secured APs without entering all the information. The PSK was sufficient. Could you please attach your /var/log/NetworkManager in case you did not set the right configuration and in case you've set it correct? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

NM thinks the AP is hidden, otherwise it always uses AP_SCAN=1 (NetworkManager/src/supplicant-manager/nm-supplicant-config.c: nm_supplicant_config_add_setting_wireless())
Thanks Tambet. We should now try to figure out why NM uses AP_SCAN=2 in Daniel's case. Daniel, could you please attach the output of "iwlist scan" and "nm-tool" before starting the connection attempt? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think you're right. I'll ask Dan if he agrees with the following patch:
A few lines above your patch is another check that has to be taken into consideration as it always returns FALSE in case no pairwise or group cipher is specified. 148 if (!s_wireless_sec->pairwise || !s_wireless_sec->group) 149 return FALSE; -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
