[Bug 206380] New: Unable to configure parallel printer
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206380 Summary: Unable to configure parallel printer Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: svgunhouse@ameritech.net QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com When I try to configure my printer, YaST2 tells me there is no /dev/lp0. Not only is there a /dev/lp0 listed if I browse /dev, but I previously had Mandriva 2006.0 installed on this machine and it worked fine (and yes, my printer - an Apollo P-1200 - is connected and turned on, and resets itself at what seems to be an appropriate time in the boot sequence). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206380 jsmeix@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |DUPLICATE ------- Comment #1 from jsmeix@novell.com 2006-09-18 02:15 MST ------- Regarding/dev/lp0 see http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-Dec/2640.html There are some bug reports about problems with the parallel port in our Novell/Suse Bugzilla. A good report to start is bug #185135 See also the other bug reports which are mentioned there. Something is fishy with the parallel port stuff in the kernels since Suse Linux 10.0, see http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2005-Nov/1206.html The current workaround is to experiment with various BIOS settings and explicite additional settings in /etc/modprobe.conf to find a setup, which actually works in a particular problematic case. I close this one as duplicate of bug #185135. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 185135 *** -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
