[Bug 350512] New: Panel disappears and fails to appear after typing kicker at term
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350512 Summary: Panel disappears and fails to appear after typing kicker at term Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: kaburman1@verizon.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer When performing normal operations ie, starting / stopping a program or just performing simple tasks like changing directories in Knoquer?? the panel will not appear when I move to the edge of the display. It appears the kickerrc file in my normal account (not root) becomes corrupted?? If I go to a term and type kicker at the prompt it appears in the normal position but then flashes (appears then disappears) and moves up the display to the top, it drags all other windows with it. It really strange!!. I have to do a Ctrl Alt Backspace to kill the X term, then allow the machine to go to the log in screen. I can then either go to my root account and copy the kickerrc file from my root account to my normal account directory, /home/kab356/.kde/share/config, then reboot. This has happened so many times I keep a fresh copy of it under a different name to copy over when this takes place. I have looked at the kickerrc file that is corrupted but it looks fine under normal (KATE). I have not looked at it using a hex editor as it may have stray characters input for some reason. I have checked the system for viruses and have found none. Let me know if you have had others with this problem or is it something I have done or doing that may cause this??. I have been using Linux since 1995 and Open Suse for the last two / three years. I dumped (WINDOWS) long ago and find Linux to be much more to my liking. I have been using computers sine 1979, program in 'C' and have built my last four machines (computer geek). Anyway, please let me know what I can do to help.
