[Bug 802737] New: Touchpad on Dell Latitude E6530 only recognized as Generic PS/2 mouse
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802737 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802737#c0 Summary: Touchpad on Dell Latitude E6530 only recognized as Generic PS/2 mouse Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: juerg.beringer@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 On OpenSuSE 12.3 RC1 KDE Live (started from a USB stick with openSUSE-12.3-KDE-LiveCD-Build0024-x86_64.iso) the touchpad on a Dell Latitude E6530 is not recognized properly. It shows up as a basic PS/2 mouse and therefore is not configurable. I think this is the same problem as on OpenSuSE 12.2 and is discussed here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/hardware/482074-a... A patch seems to be available here: http://dahetral.com/public-download Possibly the same issue is discussed for Ubuntu here: http://resalxh.wordpress.com/2012/09/18/ubuntu-12-04-lts-x64-the-next-step-g... Would it be possible to include this patch into OpenSuSE 12.3? BTW, is a backport of this fix to OpenSuSE 12.2 available (without compiling one's own kernel)? Apologies if this is not the best way to report this. Other than this problem with the touchpad, OpenSuSE 12.3 RC1 looked great and everything else I tried worked! Juerg. Reproducible: Always
From OpenSuSE 12.2 on the same Dell E6530 laptop:

I can't use the psmouse fix because the psmouse module is built into the openSUSE kernel. Can we get the patch applied or at least make the psmouse module loadable in the kernel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
