[Bug 877396] New: boot menu: no options from /etc/sysconfig/bootloader with grub 0.97
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=877396 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=877396#c0 Summary: boot menu: no options from /etc/sysconfig/bootloader with grub 0.97 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.2 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: isrein@web.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 Hi. After a system update with "pk-update-icon" my computer turned off hardly by it self, after this i noticed there are no options in my /boot/grub/menu.lst that i defined with "gnomesu /sbin/yast2 sysconfig" (QT-GUI) under "System -> Bootloader -> DEFAULT_APPEND". Maybe this options had not been there before, before the hardly shutdown, or they are after this broken update. The problem is that the entries in /boot/grub/menu.lst are still not there.
The "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" parameter was added by me manually in /boot/grub/menu.lst, to have the availability to control the fan.
To make it clear how it works. perl-Bootloader when update entries in /boot/grub/menu.lst it try to use parameters for old kernel. !Only! if it cannot detect old kernel e.g. when switching flavor, then it uses /etc/sysconfig/bootloader as fallback. So in general recommended way to update entry is edit using yast2 bootloader that will modify both menu.lst and also sysconfig as fallback if something goes wrong. So it works as expected. Things are more clear with grub2 where only authoritative source is /etc/default/grub and sysconfig contain only specific stuff like bootloader type. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
