http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=982729 Bug ID: 982729 Summary: use of streams with UAS on Frescologic device id 1009 can brick motherboards Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: oneukum@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: behlert@suse.com, jcheung@suse.com, jlee@suse.com, meissner@suse.com, mmarek@suse.com, sbahling@suse.com Depends on: 982698 Blocks: 982706, 982712, 982725 Found By: --- Blocker: --- +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #982698 +++ This is from upstream: http://marc.info/?l=linux-usb&m=146480770532266&w=2 I got one of these cards for testing uas with, it seems that with streams it dma-s all over the place, corrupting memory. On my first tests it managed to dma over the BIOS of the motherboard somehow and completely bricked it. As this can destroy hardware I am applying a patch as soon as possible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
