I added -fno-strict-aliasing some time ago without any code modifications https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/openSUSE:Factory/dd_rescue?linkrev=base&rev=47 this worked for a few weeks, but then it started to fail again.

Did you still observe issues with the aliasing fix patch applied?
