Sigh, then we need to bisect...
Well...
How reliably can this be reproduced? Does it happen always, or only once per a few boots?
Very often, i.e., more than 1 of 2 shutdowns from old runlevel 5 yield to a reboot. However, it does not seem to be reproducible from the emergency or rescue target. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

[...] When I have found the minimum set of flags, I would add my hardware and flags as a comment to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66171 ?
Since this problem is known but this report gets no attention from kernel developers, I see no point in adding information or reporting another bug. Sorry! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

[...] and test the kernel to be found at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/linux-next/standard/ ?
Is it safe to simply install that kernel on my personal production Leap 42.1 system? I could install Leap 42.1 on a spare partition and update the kernel there. But that would take longer. Or could anyone provide a patched Leap 42.1 kernel? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Your installed system won't be damaged. You will get an additional kernel. If that doesn't boot, you can press "e" in grub's boot menu and boot the old kernel and uninstall the test kernel. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I installed 4.5.0-rc3-next-20160212-1.g38290f0-vanilla and my system still boots. :) And it powered off two times without any quirk. I will test more shutdowns this week. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually I tested whether the quirks still work on 4.5.0-rc3-next-20160212-1.g38290f0-vanilla because I forgot to rebuild the initrd after removing the quirks from /etc/modprobe.d/50-xhci.conf. The first shutdown without quirks ended in a reboot. So, the current vanilla kernel does not work, too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
