So I did the following: 1) Logout of kde 2) ctl+alt+f1 3) login as root 4) init 2 5) YaST2 6) Reload installed kde packages: This seems to have the effect of eliminating the following errors (updated session log attached): Invalid entry (missing '=') at /tmp/kde-nxclienttest/kconf_updatet0Sefc.tmp:1 kded: ERROR: mount failed for /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_label_SU1020_001: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied - A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal") kded: ERROR: mounting /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_label_SU1020_001 returned A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal") <snip> kio (KService*): WARNING: The desktop entry file hidden/dirfilterplugin.desktop has Type=Service but is located under "apps" instead of "services" kio (KService*): WARNING: Invalid Service : .hidden/dirfilterplugin.desktop -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If not, any hint/suggestion about how to find out - the error messages seems quite cryptic to me. I'm a new Linux user so nothing is too simple :) Thanks for looking at this Dirk. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
