The changes in p_pci-off-by-one.diff* affect directly or indirectly the functions xf86GetPciDomain(...) linuxOpenLegacy(...) xf86MapDomainIO(...) (change in xf86MapDomainMemory is only a warning fix for 'unused variable') in linuxPci.c. Indeed these are all defined inside a !INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN block. In Pci.c the same functions are defined inside a INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN block. INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN is set on %ix86/x86_64, whereas it is not set on ia64 (see Pci.h). I could verify in the debugger, that the functions in Pci.c are used on x86_64. So this patch does not explain the hangup for %ix86/x86_64. But there's still this 'empty patch' ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308693#c26 --- Comment #26 from Stefan Dirsch <sndirsch@novell.com> 2007-10-03 10:13:40 MST --- This 'empty patch' is just a declaration for a function, which no longer seems to exist and is no longer referenced in the sources. So indeed this patch is superfluous. The only explanation for the hangup on %ix86/x86_64 with Andreas' patch in place I currently can provide would (have) be(en) a (temporarily) gcc miscompilation (triggered by his changes). I suggest to enable his patch also non-IA64 platforms and debug this issue. I remember at least Rüdiger Oertel had this problem on his Macbook with the fglrx driver. Also two other guys (Tom Patzig, Christopher Stender) with the NVIDIA driver IIRC. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So this issue is no more? Ok, closing as invalid. (In reply to comment #33 from Diego Ercolani)
I think is related to hal and resmgr that doesn't setup access right to /dev/dri and /dev/dri/*
Sure that this comment belonged to this bug report? Or was this the base for all these troubles, and has been fixed in hal? Anyway, if you still see this as an issue, please add this to a new bug report, tracking this down in this report would be too messy.
